New Material of the day - Conductive Velcro

This is a hook and loop mechanism (commonly also known as conductive Velcro®) that conducts electricity. You can see in the picture (on the photo of the sample), the electricity is running through the two pieces stuck together and lighting the bulb. It is manufactured by woven nylon tape impregnated with silver.

This fastener is perfect to integrate into smart fabrics and other soft-goods products (clothes, stuffed animals, back packs) where you want to incorporate a soft switch. For example, your backpack could set off an alarm if someone opened the flap to get at the contents inside; or your winter jacket could turn on its built in heater when you closed the flap in front.
